Meet the Team

The Firco Group is a third-generation family-owned business, founded more than 50 years ago. We are a team of construction, design and facilities solutions experts, led by James Day. Our combined knowledge and wealth of experience in the construction industry allows us to deliver an unparalleled service to industry leading customers.

James Day

Group Managing Director

James leads the senior management of Firco at Group level and heads up all major projects. He is responsible for the day-to-day management of the company and works closely with the accounts team to oversee financial operations.

With extensive experience in managing large and complex construction projects James ensures the seamless delivery of our work on behalf of our customers and the successful growth of the Firco Group.

Henry Day

Group Operations Director

Henry manages operations across the Firco Group, encompassing our three divisions. He is responsible for devising and executing the strategic vision of the company and drives the commercial growth of the business.

Henry specialises in commercial development and advises customers on ways to maximise opportunities, with a strong focus on how to successfully achieve change of use status on property assets to achieve greater returns. Henry has forged long-term relationships with Firco’s customers, suppliers and contractors and offers impartial advice on all projects and opportunities. He has an excellent track record of adding value and overseeing projects from inception to completion.

Prior to joining the family business full-time Henry ran a commercial property team for a London-based company, with a focus on alternative and marine based assets. During this time, he built a strong network of contacts in investment funds and financial services.

Joseph Gilbert

Projects Director

Joe oversees Firco’s delivery and trade teams across the UK as well as partner contractors and suppliers. He is responsible for managing contracts, liaising directly with clients and driving new business opportunities.

As a Director of the Firco Group, he works closely with James and Henry Day on the long-term strategy and direction of the business.

Joe has held several other positions within the Firco Group including Group Contracts Manager. He first joined the business in 2008 through our comprehensive apprentice training programme which gave him all the skills needed to launch a long-term career in the industry. He now has a wealth of knowledge of all facets of construction and has worked on a variety of complex refurbishment projects in challenging environments.

Caroline O’Connor

Fractional Marketing Officer

Caroline heads the Group’s strategic marketing, planning and execution.

With more than 30 years’ experience in sales and marketing, she has a strong track record of unlocking value and maximising performance. At the Firco Group Caroline is responsible for our marketing strategy and overseeing the delivery of our plans, incorporating digital, customer engagement and sales processes.

Caroline owns her own marketing consultancy supporting clients gain clarity and impact with their sales and marketing. She is also an Associate Director at Opendoorz, supporting her passion for developing collaborative business relationships.

Greig Box Turnbull

Communications Director

Greig manages the Firco Group’s strategic communications, incorporating our external corporate communications.

He is highly experienced in devising communications strategies and overseeing tactical output to ensure strong brand perception, reputation and audience engagement.

A former Mirror journalist and Oxford United managing director, Greig has a strong understanding of communications for the construction and sustainability sectors. He owns an Oxford based PR agency and is Vice Chair of Oxford United in the Community.

Rob Jones

Senior Project Manager

Rob is an integral member of the Firco project delivery team, he is responsible for drafting estimates and plans for specialist construction projects for Firco Construction and consulting on heritage change of use projects for Firco Investments. From the initial enquiry and concept to project sign off, Rob works hand in hand with our clients to ensure each step is completed on time, within budget to Firco’s high standards.

Rob’s hands on experience as a master carpenter, plus previous MD and Director roles in the commercial and residential contract sector enables him to bring over 4 decades of knowledge and insight to complex projects. Saving our clients time and money and stress.

Veniese Pollard

Executive Assistant to Group Directors

Veniese provides day-to-day support to the leadership team.

Having previously worked in logistics & distribution for the MOD, Veniese is accustomed to dealing with a vast array of projects, in a fast-paced environment, with ever changing deadlines. She uses her exceptional experience to support our directors and deliver an unparalleled service to Firco’s industry leading customers.

Katherine Hyde

Head Social Media Marketing

Katherine heads the Group’s social media marketing strategy and execution.

Katherine uses the power of social media to connect to our online audiences in the most powerful and authentic way. Her experience spans many industries; the magazine industry, health food and fitness, bio-sciences and professional sporting clubs. All of which have helped her to specialise in creating organic and original social media content that reflects our brand values. Katherine works closely with each brand to achieve their online marketing goals; enabling them to grow a meaningful following, create an online community, increasing exposure and enhancing our business from our social media presence.

Firco Construction is an interior and exterior refurbishment specialist and also a main contractor operating throughout the UK. We are also available to take on commercial and industrial projects abroad.

The Firco Group has developed a significant investment portfolio, comprising of commercial and residential property in the UK. We take a long-term, sustainable approach to property investment and re-invest Group profits into our investment-arm.

Barnaby Sloane, our design division, provides a full-service pre-construction design and planning service. We can design specialist plans, architectural plans and CAD drawing as required.
